Plant Based Summit is an international congress for plant chemistry, dedicated to the development of bio-based solutions. This 5th edition will take place in Cité Internationale, Lyon, from 22-24 May 2019. It is organised by the l’Association Chimie du végétal (the Plant Chemistry Association) and IAR, the French bio-economy cluster, in partnership with Axelera.
A veritable convergence platform
This 5th edition will focus on the downstream markets for bio-based products and, in particular, on innovation and the challenges the sector faces. The event aims to be a “convergence platform” for all the sector’s actors, from large industrial groups to start-ups, from primary processing operators to downstream users, via chemicals and biotech companies. Visitors can attend numerous workshops, conferences and individual meetings. An “exhibition zone” is also planned. This will be a privileged networking area to enable participants to identify the partners that are relevant to their activity and development. Aderly will also be present, as it will share a stand with representatives from Metropole de Lyon’s Chemicals Valley program.

Chemistry, Lyon’s industry of excellence
Lyon’s Chemicals Valley is renowned, and recognised as the historical cradle of the chemicals industry since the 1850s. As a strategic territory of the Lyon Metropolitan area, the Valley concentrates an ecosystem of innovation and leading industrial production in the chemicals -energy-environment and cleantech sectors. The entire industry value chain is represented. Chemicals Valley extends from the 7th district of Lyon to the town of Solaize and brings together big names in the sector such as Arkema, Solvay, IFP EN, Elkem Silicones or Air Liquide. The territory includes 7 national and international R&D centres and 2 collaborative innovation platforms, and benefits from a private investment dynamic of about 100 million euros per year.
As a territory of experimentation, Chemicals Valley has created a new technological sector and a productive landscape, resulting from the need to sustainably manage natural resources and to recover industrial wasteland turning the landscape into a new opportunity to create value. This new sector encompasses many activities such as the recovery and transformation of fertile land and soil remediation by phyto-remediation, biomass production, etc.
