CGI, a Canadian IT group, recently inaugurated its first and only global centre of excellence in Lyon. The centre is dedicated to the digitization of the corporate supply chain. A showcase for the group, the Lyon centre already employs 350 experts. Its goal is to recruit 250 more in the next two years ( in engineering, supply and logistics, warehousing and programming)
CGI already employs 950 people in Lyon, but the company was also considering Stuttgart and the West Coast of the United States for this 5.5 million euro investment. “The city’s knowledge of the industry, logistical services and its mastery of new technologies was the winning combination”, explained Michel Bénaut, one of the company’s local managers.
The Lyon centre includes a showroom where clients can be immersed in a digital supply chain. With 6 animated stands that reconstruct the “connected” product chain. The technologies developed by CGI in Lyon will make it possible to digitize all supply chain functions, from manufacturing to after-sales services, facilitating the exchange of information internally and with external partners.“Over 90% of the managers we interviewed said that their priority is to digitize their organization, especially their supply chain,” said Serge Godin, founder and Executive Chairman of the Board.
A specialist in information technology services, CGI employs 72,000 people in 400 offices around the world, including over 10,000 in France. Established 41 years ago, the group doubled in size every three or four years to reach a turnover of 7.3 billion euros in 2016. Among its customers: Michelin, Volvo, Clarins, Sanofi, Plastic Omnium and Carrefour more.
