In 2014, Nuncas, Italian leader in the high-end domestic cleaning products market, announced it was to set up an ultra-modern factory to replace its historic site in Milan.
The company was founded in 1935, when a Sicilian artisan began a small family company making and selling boot polish and later branched out to make floor polish. His son, a brilliant chemist, developed the company’s production in the 1950s by inventing a new range of quality polishes as well as home fragrances and bodycare products.
Construction began this year in the Plaine de L’Ain Industrial Park (PIPA) on a 5-hectare parcel of land to become the company’s sole European production site in 2018.
As the first stone was laid, Luca Manzoni, CEO of Nuncas, explained that he had “visited over sixty potential sites in Europe; in Austria, Italy, France and Germany, before selecting PIPA. A choice that was guided as much by the site’s strategic location as by the “shared values”.
PIPA is the first European industrial park to have been awarded the ISO14001 certification, which echoes the company’s commitment to sustainable development: “Our brand is environmentally-friendly and we want to build a factory that integrates cutting-edge energy-saving and environmentally-friendly measures.” Confirmed M. Manzoni
Furthermore, the director explained “An automated factory doesn’t necessarily mean that there are no employment opportunities […] it simply means that the positions require a more qualified workforce.” 43 jobs will be created with 30 recruitments made locally.
Aderly supported Nuncas by helping them to research and visit sites that met the company’s criteria.
Over 158 companies have set up in the 900-hectare Plaine de l’Ain Industrial Park to date. Located just outside of Lyon, it represents a great opportunity for companies to set up in the region. It is an ideal and dynamic business area, where companies can find a high-quality real estate offer in an exceptional living environment.
